Airport

Sightseeing Highlights
The Kolner Dom with its spires soaring skywards dominates the city like Eiffel's tower does Paris. Begun in 1248 it was only completed in 1880 and is a superb example of Gothic architecture with its graceful fragility belying its massive scale.
The Romisch-Germanisches Museum collates the area's Roman influence. With items ranging from the grand (monuments, mosaics) to the everyday (toys, cooking implements, lamps) it provides a fascinating insight into Europe's original empire.
The Wallraf-Richartz Museum specialises in art from the 13th-19th centuries. Key works include medieval works, Dutch and Flemish masters (Rembrandt, Rubens) Italians (Canaletto), 19th century Romanticists (Caspar, Friedrich) and Impressionists (Monet, Van Gogh).
For those with a preference for modern art, the Museum Ludwig houses an extensive 20th century collection in a building that signals its contents with its façade and quirky roofline. Works by Dali, Warhol, Picasso, Klee and Chagall are just some of its treasures.
Twelve Romanesque Churches built between 1150 and 1250 are scattered through the inner-city area. Different ones have particular features that are standouts of their type - turrets, spires, carved doors, domes, frescoes to name a few.
